This fabulous smoking cap was made from rich blue velvet in the late 1920s / early 1930s. It perches loosely on the head and features a large grey coloured silk tassel attached to a covered button at the centre of the hat. The front has been embroidered with an emblem of the original owner’s initials being V, S, C and F. Inside, the hat is lined in black silk and stamped in gold with English Manufacture and a maker’s mark for Christy’s London. 

As the hat perches loosely on the head, it is suitable for a variety of head sizes. 

The hat is in good condition with only some wear spots to the velvet as pictured.
